"Women TIES Greater Ithaca Luncheon:"
Women entrepreneurs start their businesses for a variety of reasons but one of the main reasons is to make money - our own money, our own way. We take our passion and we create a job for ourselves so we can earn a living and hopefully create a corporate enterprise worth selling one day so we can eventually live off that investment. Statistics show women still lag behind men in making financial investments in themselves and their companies. When capital flows through the hands of an entrepreneur, two questions come to mind: How can I keep more of what I earn? And where is it best to reinvest this capital? This special Ithaca luncheon produced by Women TIES and Five Star Events will feature two different money experts - Mary Bouchard, CPA and Betsy Powers, Private Wealth Advisor. Both will talk for fifteen minutes and provide tips on making money work for us from the accounting and investing perspective. Mary will discuss straightforward and smart accounting procedures for small business owners which will help you understand how you can keep more of what you earn. Betsy will challenge you to think whether the money you are earning should be invested in your business, outside your business or a combination of both. We expect you to walk away with ideas on how to preserve, enhance and leverage your financial capital for your short and long term success. Make sure you mark your calendar for this program. Don't shy away from one of the most important subjects facing women entrepreneurs. Money matters and we need to know how to get it to work for us!

"Women TIES Syracuse Luncheon:"
Women entrepreneurs see the so-called "experts" every time they read about their business segment. You find their advice in the media - magazines, broadcast and the web. But you have at least as much knowledge as they do! What makes them the experts? The answer is that they promote themselves to be THE experts. Their businesses grow, their recognition grows, their profits grow, and the bottom line is that they are making the tracks you could be making -- if only you knew how. There's no magic, nor big cost involved. During this program, Trisha will teach you some little or no-cost tools for making yourself a much more public expert with the knowledge you have about your business and the markets it addresses. Whether you are a one-person consultancy or professional, or you own a small shop in your basement or on Main Street, you'll be able to go back to your office, and begin your rise to the top of the expert heap with the basics you'll learn from this exciting program. About the Presenter: Trisha Torrey is a former marketing professional, turned expert. In just a few years, she has gone from zero to sixty-plus in the field of patient empowerment and healthcare navigation. In 2004, she had never even worked with a healthcare client. Today, she has been quoted by the Wall Street Journal, US News and World Report, CNN, NPR, Bottom Line Publications, Angie's List Magazine and others. Her first book, You Bet Your Life! The 10 Mistakes Every Patient Makes was published the first of this year. Find Trisha's regular column in the Post Standard, hear her weekly radio show, HealthLink on Air (WSYR 570 AM) on Sunday mornings, access her About.com Patient Empowerment website, or find any of her several personal websites.

"15th Annual Room Full of Sisters"
Since 1994, Room Full of Sisters has welcomed thousands to this annual gathering that celebrates women and serves "as a container to hold all of who we are." It began as an informal gathering of women brought together to celebrate themselves during National Women's History Month. Over the years, Room Full of Sisters has grown into a uniquely joyous event that allows each individual to feel welcome in a room of people of diverse backgrounds, ages, cultures, races, business-affiliations, economic and education levels, geographic beginnings, work and family lives, and myriad talents and interests. It truly is a container that celebrates differences and honors all who attend. Room Full of Sisters encourages networking, but it is not solely a networking event; it encourages social connections, but it is not solely a social event; it encourages learning, but it is not solely an educational event; it encourages business, but it is not solely a business event. It is all of this...all at once! A unique container that holds all of who we are. Melina Carnicelli, Managing Partner of Treble Associates; Tracy Higginbotham, President of Women TIES; and JoAnn Blake have come together to co-produce this event which draws over 300 women and 50 regional artisans, vendors and service providers who participate in a marketplace of unique products and services by and for women. Guest speakers, live entertainment, a creative luncheon offering and sage wisdom from women of every decade of life will round out the program. Don't miss the inspirational conversation, unique shopping experience, and myriad of beautiful women joined in spirit.
